Drenched with all the fuzz and chaos Australia has come to love from them, Adelaide favourites Horror My Friend are thrilled to share ‘Pavement’, the newest addition to their growing discography of evocative, noisy alt-rock. ‘Pavement’ sees Horror My Friend take a step out of their lethargic, suburban home; making a fierce statement on gender inequality and the state of the wider, Australian music industry, filtering it through a dynamic wave of enveloping fuzz and reverb.


Tom Gordon, who sings and plays guitar on the track, says “Lyrically the song touches on ideas of

wasted life, wasted talent, and gender equality, in which the pressures of accepted society and accepted constructs push everyone into certain roles and often ultimately encourage us to leave our passions for more “realistic” pursuits.”


Honing a unique, yet evocative sound, reminiscent of 90’s pioneers Sonic Youth, My Bloody Valentine and taking cues from German legends Neu!, along with relative newcomers DIIV, Horror My Friend summon the spirit of alternative rock and shoegaze, whilst breaking new ground and embedding themselves firmly in the present. Within their relatively short career, Horror My Friend have caused a stir and garnered critical acclaim both nationally and internationally, through a strong commitment to chaotic, yet commanding live shows, touring, and the strength of their song writing at such a young age, proudly displayed on ‘Pavement’, along with 2016’s seminal debut album ‘Stay In, Do Nothing’.During this time, Horror My Friend have toured nationally with the likes of Hockey Dad, Gyroscope, Die! Die! Die! (NZ) and Pity Sex (USA), among others, whilst locally supporting Violent Soho, The Cribs (UK), Swervedriver (USA) and more.


In addition to this, Horror My Friend have performed at festivals such as Groovin’ The Moo, Yours & Owls Festival, Bigsound, Blurst of Times and Poison City Weekender, whilst garnering strong radio and media support through Triple J, Unearthed, a range of community radio stations, along with blogs and music publishers both nationally and internationally.


With the announcement of new single ‘Pavement’ released through Poison City Records, coming at the end of the trio’s third tour for 2018, touring nationally with Emo legends Gyroscope, along with NZ postpunk’s Die! Die! Die!, both in New Zealand and Australia, Horror My Friend have taken a step up within Australia and into the international area.
