Elegant Shiva
As two-piece rock bands go, there’s something outside the box about Elegant Shiva.
It’s not just the dirty, grunge-infused vibrations that sets them apart from the duo rock movement. Nor is it the enormity of lead singer Josh Swans 7ft status, or drummer Matt Swans explosive antics behind the drumkit. There’s just something addictive about the Shiva sound.
Josh and Matt met in Byron in 2012, where they played on tour together as separate entities. Josh concentrating on a separate project and Matt’s band, the UK’s ‘Royal Blood’, playing support.
Their influences are tangible with RATM, Hendrix and Soundgarden amongst the mix. There are two singles released to date; ‘Can’t Get Enough’ and ‘Take What You Want’.
In August 2017 the band secured a signing with one of the world's largest global independent publishing companies, Peer Music. The deal marks a point for the band that is set to take them onto an international level, with a planned trip to the USA and Europe in the workings.
Recent sponsorship came from Sydney brewing company ‘Young Henry’s’. The bands live highlights include Party In The Paddock festival in Tasmania and supports for Rodriguez, Wolfmother and Nick Oliveri (Queens Of The Stone Age).
