Muse was an early love of all the TKM members. There’s just something unmistakably unique about albums like “Origin of Symmetry” and “Absolution” that really appealed to us as listeners and players. Each Muse member has their own individual flavour too, which makes following their evolution as instrumentalists fascinating from album to album.

COG is the picture of the hard working, old school, on the road rock band that if you you want to be heard you have to get out there and play and command attention. The Aussie 3 piece pushes the tough genre of progressive rock and had to simply tour their way into peoples minds to lead the way as one of Australia’s premium heavy acts. The band has a larger than life sound resonating from just 3 guys on stage is something in which the Kite Machine aim to mirror in its own way. The rhythm section of Lucius and Luke is simple a powerhouse and Flynn’s voice is clear and distinct letting you know that he has got something to say and he’s gonna make you listen. COG’s integrity and commitment to their message and ideas coupled with exceptional musicianship make for a truely unique sound.

These guys are an absolute live powerhouse. The strength of these guys is that they make great records with a seemingly unmatchable energy and charisma - then walk out on stage and give you exactly that and more. Plus they all play like 3 instruments each on stage at once which is great.

Another huge live influence for us, Band Of Skulls is a highly underrated Rock band from the UK who are one minute bluesy or folky and then next they’re doing the Black Sabbath thing. When you have a song called “I Feel Like Ten Men, Nine Dead and One Dying” then you know you’re kicking goals.

Biffy is a band who fearlessly genre-mash, albums like “Opposites” show them at their creative peak with huge pop hooks bookending proggy rock jams. As far as a band who pushes the boundaries of rock and pop music in general Biffy Clyro is a huge inspiration to TKM.
