The Lovely Days
With a psychedelic sound conjuring imagery of summer and 7” records, Melbourne-via Mullumbimby rock band The Lovely Days are creating a melody-driven soundscape that nods to superheroes like Tame Impala, ELO and Alabama Shakes.
They emanate musical vibes from the 60s and 70s, not to recreate a golden age but as the raw material to invent a new one. In a modern world of fear, distraction and fakery, the songs of The Lovely Days are an antidote; a joyful respite of hope, sincerity and musical fun.
The Lovely Days formed around brothers Tennyson and Holden Nobel, immersing themselves in the history of music from Mozart to McCartney to Muse via their Dad’s record collection. Forming a band in high school on the New South Wales north coast, the brothers took a musical chance and headed to Melbourne soon after graduation where they reunited with school friend Stephen Dickie and recruited their new mate Jackson McIvor to complete the foursome.
Their debut self-titled EP was released in 2016 receiving praise from media across the US, UK, Canada and Australia and impacting at American college radio. The band then headed back to the studio for their follow up.
Their EP ‘Arms Wide Open’ features the new single ‘Mornington’, mixed by Eric J Dubowsky (Flume, Chet Faker) who has brought forth the lush harmonies and contemporary vibes that are fast becoming the signature of The Lovely Days.
The boys set off around Australia in June to launch the EP with four shows across three states.
